Put the most important idea early, write names the way you want them pronounced, and use punctuation to suggest a pause. These small edits often do more for clarity than switching between similar voices.
Play HT is especially useful at this drafting stage. Read a sentence aloud through the text to speech editor, then ask whether the listener would understand it on the first pass. If the meaning gets lost, simplify the words and play it again. A product introduction might need a calmer opening; an explainer may need a breath between steps; a lesson may need an unfamiliar term spelled phonetically.

How does the free Play HT voice preview work?
The editor uses speech synthesis supplied by your browser or operating system. Type or paste a short script, select a language and an available voice, then press Play. Playback happens on your device. The exact voices and pronunciations depend on your browser and system settings.
Can I choose another language or accent?
Yes, when your browser exposes voices for that language. The language tabs filter the voices available on your device. If a language has no installed voice, the editor tells you so instead of silently reading in a different language. You can add system voices in your device settings and return to this page.
Can I download the audio?
This browser preview plays audio directly and does not export a file. If you need a downloadable voice over, keep your script ready and use an export-capable text to speech service. We do not describe an export as available until it is implemented here.
Is this the same as the archived Play.ht service?
This Play HT page is a new voice preview inspired by the layout of an archived Play.ht homepage. PlayHT and Play.HT are common spellings of that earlier brand. This preview does not reproduce its proprietary voice models, account, API, subscriptions, or voice library.
